한국이 그립다…

한국의 사계절이 그립다.

봄의 신선하고 맛있는 다종다양한 과일, 상쾌한 바람, 춥지도 않고 덥지도 않은 날씨, 꽃이 피며 보여주는 아름다움이 그립다.

여름의 햇빛이 강하지만 좋고, 낮은 밤보다 더 길다는 것도 좋다.

가을에 단풍이 들어 불타는 나무들, 여름의 답답함이 끝난다고 시원해지는 밤..

겨울에 우산이 없어 비 맞으며 길에서 버스를 기다리는 추억…
몸이 떨릴 정도로 너무 추웠는데 그래도 그립다.

냉장고 대신하는 창문… 과일, 두유 식히기 위해 방에 있는 창턱에 둘 수 있는 편함이 그립다.

추워 죽겠다는 겨울이 머지않아 지날거라며 좋아하는 봄이 곧 오겠다는 계절의 순환…

계절의 순환은 인생의 순환을 따라간다는 거 진정으로 느낄 수 있었으니까…

춥다면 추위가 지나겠다고…
덥대도 시원해지겠다고…
나쁘다면 좋아져야 한다고…
좋대도 계속 좋지 않을 거라고…

다 인생의 순환인데, 좋다 나쁘다 할 수가 없지.

back from korea this afternoon!

too fast, too soon, and i don’t feel like returning to work tomorrow…

the last time i worked seemed like a century ago.

headed down to seosan 서산 from fri-sat to visit the kids and had a good time with them on sat afternoon.

thurs afternoon, the day i touched down, i sprang a surprise visit on my ex-company. went to the office and opened the door, and the first person i came face to face with was boss#2.

i stared at him, he stared at me, i smiled and waved, and he managed a “누구야!!!” (who’s this!!) hee. was nice seeing the two bosses again, though we were supposed to meet again for either lunch or dinner on monday but that didn’t materialise because i didn’t have enough time.

above: a serendipitous discovery just a few weeks before i left korea. i forgot the name of the cafe (it’s somewhere in hongdae), but the waffles were pretty decent and wallet-friendly too!! only downside was that our order took very long to arrive.

florence, lx and i were speculating that the owner might be japanese (cos he looked japanese) while hena’s opinion was that while he looked japanese, his eyes were korean. so she suggested that we all bet 1000won each and she went up to the owner and asked for water in japanese but he didn’t understand japanese, so she declared that she won the bet. heh.

i fell in love with the ????? that suz introduced me to, and i was rather determined to eat it before i left korea. thanks to equinox who helped me with my luggage, i managed to have it as my last meal on the day i was due to leave.
